Empty Branches!?

Gray is gray Cold is cold The beginning of winter The winters hold.... Empty branches Emptier hands Living but dying Without any plans Breathing; beating.... Seeing The best that you can?! Seeing Being This barren land.... Gray is gray Cold is cold The midst of winter Your growing old Drying rivers.... Drier eyes Another day closer To the end, of your time!? Time Closer.... To the cold, inside The dead of winter The death of a life The death in a world That is dying; they cry.... Gray is gray Cold is cold The end of winter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The winters, toll?! Note: A retro repose from the Winter of 06 & 07, I believe? "'Love,' Always," John!:) ~

Good day John! Ohh, I read this before and it made me feel very sad. I don't think branches are ever empty? There may even be angels sitting on them, that one cannot detect at a glance. This will be your Thanksgiving weekend, a time for pleasantries and gratitude. Carpe Diem to you also, John!! God's love and blessings to you and yours!! Love to you, Mikki

A wonderful write John! Good rhythm and general structure throughout which carries you through at good pace in what could otherwise be a very dreary subject. Top write! Kindest thoughts, Anna-Marie.

I've often heard that when we're at our lowest, our Father carries us in his arms. I pray that you are at peace once more. It seems that lately hearts have been rather heavy dealing with struggles of all sorts. Yet, in those times we pray and gain hope and strength from His Words, one that gives me strength goes something like this, 'sadness may last for the night but joy comes in the morning', John. May His peace be with you always. Thanks for leaving comments for me. Love, Audrey

This Poem is more than beautiful. The flow of heart touching words coming like a mountain brook beautiful, cold, sad but full of hard realities of life. While reading your Poem I remembered one old Hindi Song ' Hai Subse Madhur Wo Geet Ginehey Hum Durd Ke Swar Mai Gate Hai' Means Our Sweetest Songs are those, which we sing in our sadest tones. The second line is more beautiful, 'Jub Hud Se Guzar Jati Hai Khushi, Aansoo Bhi Chalakte Aate Hia',Continue in next....Ravindra

Means ' When the feelings of happiness or sadness inside our heart surpasses all limits, then tears start rolling from the eyes. This Song is a very popular song sung by Talat Mahmood (a famous Hindi singer of 50-60's) somewhere around 1955. However we should remember one thing, that after every hard and tough winter or night, one always find the warmth of summer or the glimmer of morning Sun…continue …Ravindra

Dreary forcast, john. For me, it means the winter is gong to be interminable until death takes us. Did I read it correctly? The dryness, the barrenness! Good writing, john. I really liked the short lines too, making it very enjoyable to read. Luv, Andrea

The winter of '06-'07 must have been a bleak one for you, dear friend. I hope you are in brighter spirits now and preparing to have a great holiday season. Winter's cold air and gray skies can take their toll on us both physically and spiritually. There is so much pain in this sad poem. Love, Carolyn
