Wwiii Maybe?
If I said the idea of making 'The War To End All Wars' a trilogy scared me
I would certainly be lying
We've come so close to WWIII over the last four years
That I have long since conquered my fear of dying
That's not to say that the idea of it isn't constantly
Looming in the back of my mind
Or that I don't sometimes dream of men in trenches
Maddened by gun fights
Our economy is fragile
And after Covid so is every other aspect of the world
And so it wouldn't exactly come as a shock to me
If another World War were to unfurl
The possibility of war is a never ending issue
One that will supposedly be solved by our "perfect" politicians
But I wouldn't trust any of them to watch my drink at a bar
Let alone with nuclear weapons
I will say this,
One thing that does frighten me about World War III
Is that our weapons of mass destruction have evolved ten fold since the last one
This time who knows what the casualty count will be
We are holding our breathe at a global level
Each nation is on their toes
Peering over borders
Trying to catch a glimpse of the initial blow
Everyone is preparing for a war
That may or may not happen
They're buying rations and building bunkers
And throwing around conspiracies like it's the new fashion
The mass hysteria surrounding the possibility of WWIII is intoxicating
I can't imagine the amount of fear and panic that it could invoke
This will or won't be battle has only one outcome
It will begin and end in an all consuming cloud of smoke
