Death in the New Year

Our hands are tied, Death
Since you dawned on us this New Year . . .

Shapely bottles of champagnes have shone
And have broken to fragments with the ululation
Of firecrackers that warmed cold and dark wintry skies.
Now, aphonia sets in from unending lamentations.
Headlines, buried by the chilly bones of winter,
Are barren of good tidings.
A chionophile besieges the rim of a sedulous Yuletide
Grieving by oneiric alleys . . .
I speak of the Friedhof of haunting grimness behind
The curtains of howling winds;
Chants that frequent the disease of frightened melodies, stained
With the aged banality of youthful death;
And the purlieu of cremated souls and consolidated ashes.
Daggers are drawn to paint skulls on canvas slit by the
Whispering tongues of fire
Candles burn their tallow gently on the skin of cancer,
A stinkaroo that stinks with rage.
We do not know how else to turn the calendar.
The edges brim with hostile, burning blood,
Frozen with bits of hate and servile penetralia.

New Year hangs the singed sigil of death
On the bosom of fattened scrolls.

Days

Amazing, beautiful
Sunshine
Moonlight
Nighttime
Brightness
Clouds in the air
Whispering winds flowing
Blowing unknowingly
Days upon days
Elated, joyful
The days.

It doesn’t happen everyday
Through perilous weather, flies Santa’s sleigh
Reflecting in the Winter sun
Are its legs, in gunmetal grey

Yet as Christmas Eve turns to Morning
Falling behind red-silk and cotton
Among the frost
One’s mind is lost
And all else is forgotten

The children play with what was brought
Without as much as a second thought
From where these marvellous gifts came
Or in the manner how they were wrought

To gratitude, they must adhere
In the closing of the year
Unaware that these times are austere
And each of their new toys, hold near

While countless harsh weeks lie ahead
A return to school, many will dread
And memories, so bittersweet
Will be recalled instead

They say that what goes up, must come down
Such includes the crib and tree
The wrapping and its debris
Whilst wearing a cap and gown
This cold new year evokes a frown

New year Eve delight

Midnight's zero hour draws ever near,
With bated breath, we await the cheer for new year .
Unfazed by cold, our spirits run high,
As nostalgia whispers sweet and bitter sighs.

Everyone hustles for parties, friends, and family
Gathering to cherish moments, dancing to music's melody.
The celebration euphoric, a grand adieu to the past,
Honoring 2024, as it leaves us at last.
Bonfires blaze, cheering the new year's entry, with glee,
firecrackers' burst ,a spectacle to behold in wild  spree
Revellers fill the streets, a cacophony of delight,
A standing ovation for 2025, shining bright.
With promises renewed, we solicit blessings divine
For peace and happiness in the world to refine .
As the Sun rises above the horizon with radiant light,
We embark on a fresh journey, filled with delight.

Chinese New Year

i’ve heard of the year of the rooster but 2025—is the year of the kookoo

Dancing Into the Unknown

The old year fades, its echoes drifting light,
A newborn spark ignites the midnight sky.
We laugh, we drink, we dance into the night,
A fleeting wish, a dream that longs to fly.
Resolutions sworn in candle’s sight,
Yet whispered vows may fade as days go by.
But in this hour, with hope and love we glow,
The past behind, the future yet to show.

Premium Member New year declaration

We were on our own
Minding our business

Weighed down by crushing unemployment
Thoroughly disillusioned by the art of promise and fail

We were disoriented by the perennial lie
Of being leaders of tomorrow

While we watched the promised future
Dissipate before our very eyes

Stolen by evil forces that have held the country
Down since after the flag independence

We were still minding our business
With dignified silence

As SARS kept on decimating our numbers
At any slightest provocation

Profiling us with ease as fraudsters
Defining us by how we looked

Instead of whom we really were
And we came out to protest this injustice

But we were brutally repressed
And ran for our dear lives

An election came in 2023
And we believed that with our numbers

We could take back our country
From the precipice of the devil and the deep blue sea

But we were brutally brought down to earth
By forces of calamity

However we remain undaunted
The forces of evil might seem to be winning

But we the youth will bring their blighted era
To a dismal end and that is our declaration!

Happy Anniversary Poetry Soup

A haven of words, a poet’s delight,
Where verses dance in morning light.
Ink spills freely, hearts take flight,
In PoetrySoup, our souls unite.

Through rhymes and rhythms, joy and pain,
Lines like rivers, thoughts unchained.
A home for dreamers, bold and free,
A world of wonder, poetry.

Years have passed, yet still you stand,
A guiding light, a poet’s land.
So here’s to more—may voices bloom,
Happy anniversary, PoetrySoup!

Premium Member 2025 Year of the Wood Snake

Wonderful attributes are associated with the Chinese New Year
The Wood snake brings wisdom, creativity, intuition and growth
She symbolizes renewal, transformation, patience and understanding
The snake’s major element is Yang fire
Yang fire is associated with the sun
Thus, bringing these attributes into Year 2025
Aboveboard, selfless, cordial, ambitious, righteous, foresighted

The snake hour is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
This is when you might be the most creative or ambitious.
In China the snake is considered a little dragon.
Shy, retiring, a non-show off.
I think 2025 is represented well by the wood snake
I am eager to see what she does with us.

Third day of CNY

2025.1.31
Third and final formal celebration day.
Three main days of CNY,
Have peacefully enjoyed by many Chinese.
The affluent people will continue
Celebrate upto 14 days.
The red packets, AngPao or lixi
Will be given out to friends and distance relatives.
I had given two to BB,
I believe he is single and still available.
This Sunday, the Lions dances
Will be demonstrated in the Melbourne CBD.
The Fortune tellers, palm readers, caligraphor,
And many others will be there,
The traditional New Year Chinese songs and dances
Are the entertainments of the event.
Arts and Crafts, food and drinks
Will be available for people to gain energy.
Happy Chinese New Year.
May everyone be safe, happy, healthy and has lot of money in the year of Snake.

Premium Member New Year's Hope

A promise of new beginnings,
A hope for brighter tomorrows;
A time to loose from all sorrows
And bind to faith so enriching.

A promise of new beginnings,
And resolve to redeem today;
If God is for us, come what may.
A time to praise, rejoice, repent,
And reflect on the time we spent.
Let us be glad this New Year’s Day.

CNY 2nd day

2025.1.30
CNY 2nd day.
Today, the celebration continues.
People visit their distance relatives,
Their grand parents, aunties, uncles and cousins,
The CNY visiting's routine become formal and practical,
The meals is also less glamorous
There will be lobster, oysters and prawns.
The rotating hexagon box,
Full of sweets and candies are still on.
Chinese people believe,
What happens in the first three days in CNY,
Will repeat throughout the year.
I believe that is purely superstitious.
However I have already experienced two strange incidences.
I wish it will never happen again.
One was, I received no phone calls nor replies to my messages
Which I was asked to do someone favors.
The other related to "My music adventure"
Goodbye 2nd day of CNY.

Chinese New Year

2025.1.29
Hippy horay, it Chinese New Year Day.
Every Chinese, believes they are one year older,
They may not be necessary wiser.
Last night, they went to sleep,
With full of food in the fridge.
Wearing the new pyjama or night gown in bed.
Lot of fresh money notes in the purses or wallets.
So when they wake up in the morning.
Believing, every day for the rest of the year,
They shall always have food to eat.
Clothes to wear and money to spend.
They shall wear red or bright colour at least.
They greet family members and their love ones,
The nicest words and wishes to one and another.
They young and single and unmarried members,
Happily receive red packey or AngBao from parents,
Sweet lollies and cakes shall be offered.

I am in my pink floral pyjama,
All I wish was a happy and healthy life with no drama.
Happy Chinese New Year for everybody including me.

Chinese New Year Eve

2025.1.28.
Chinese New Year Eve.
Tonight, all Chinese and Asian,
Busy to celebrate the lunar new year.
The entire house has been thoroughly clean,
From floors to ceilings,
In the cupboards, and on the benches,
New or freshly pressed blankets, linens, clothes and shoes have been chosen.
All these were performed,
To serve as their wishes have been granted,
To receive good luck for the whole year.
Tonight, all the family members,
Come home from all the globe's corner,
Gathering around to share their reunion dinner,
Happy and luckily to meet each other.
Share the nicest meal ever,
The abalone, fish, and a soupy desert,
Made of flour, round in shape...
Writing up to here,
All of a sudden, I feel unease and lonely.
I have had a lovely family.
Which I have already lost for many years.
Happy new year to all Chinese.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

A new version
Another chapter to rewrite
A new start
Another year, 2025 to be accurate
A new page and more awareness
Another chance to correct and recreate.

A year of possibilities
If only you begin
I'll rejoice and be glad
For the gift of life
Many didn't make it
Didn't lost any family or friends
Glory to the giver of life and more.

Gratitude the song
I'll always sing
Unlimited edition
Fearlessly I'll thrive
Never to let anything limit me
I pray this year endowed us not humble us.
