a trillion petals magnetise my tender Heart
racing past farm workers in morning dew
Sun embellishes yellow song
crazed by mesmerising muse
saffron they slap an early chill gold
seeds swallow empty hopes sold

sunflower faerie appeared in a Kansas field
in the middle of sunflowers with an unusual yield
She flitted between the faces of these large flowers
Giving them a teensy bit of her sunflower powers
The sunflowers she landed on now had a face
And mouths that moved, but they could not chase
We want legs now said one with her new mouth
Sunflower faerie laughed and promptly flew south.

he flies to the sunflower
of course, because it is the largest and the brightest
Pollinating it with all of his heart, I hear his happy sounds
a joyful honey bee

She flickers in the glass—
a glitch of golden déjà vu,
The paint strokes—bright, wild yellow,
but no warmth leak through.
I sometimes reach
for her dimming leaves
that hum against my skin then disappear.
I pull back and smell
ash, when nothing’s charred.
There were twelve petals yesterday,
now, only eleven.
I wake up and count again.
Still eleven,
or maybe
none.
(I’m not sure if I’ve woken,
even though I know
I tasted salt from my tears.)
Mother says we never got a dog.
But I remember—
the texture of his leather collar,
the white fur tickling my nose.
The sky runs—
watercolor pulled too far.
I check the time:
9:42 AM.
Then I open my eyes.
4:08.
She’s still there,
scorched
into my nightstand—
brushing mirage into my vision.

In the blithe breeze
A baby’s hand opens to the light.
In a daze, the radiant blaze, towering flower
arching toward the golden solar rays.
In a time-lapsing daydream, it rises, stretches
and unfurls, soaking in and beckoning the sultry Sol,
the simmering summer Sol.
No wonder it is seen as good luck.
First conceived in childish crayon,
It bears the ragged, jagged edges
of toddler joy, of a blunt golden celebration.
Clutch it to one’s chest,
the Raggedy Ann blossom,
the perennial of laughter and glee,
great daisy pregnant with seed!

Like a sunflower you fade, faster, quicker every day.
Weeping like the wonderful willows ,
We just could not keep that melancholy feeling at bay.
That feeling was just too hard of a pill to swallow,
For those of us who miss you most.
A flower can be such a sweet reminder of what once was,
Although these flowers fade all we’re left with is a ghost.
The faint presence of a beauty that has been taken by deaths sharp claws
The flowers fade and your presence slips even further from my grasp.
The comforting music of your voice is unclear to me now;
I depict it as the voice of an angel shouting down from heaven’s bask.
I shout up at the sky above hoping you’ll allow
Me to pour my words out, before all my flowers fade.
And yet I still remain afraid for when all my flowers fade.

Be strong like a sunflower
Smiling all day in the sun
Ruthless of strong wind rage
Still standing, head on unfazed
Orange-yellow its identity
Waiting patiently for bees
Looking up above its humbleness
Thanking God, love His mercy everyday
Until the reaper put its sickle
Life is still beautiful to stay.

Once up on a giant sunflower,
A pink fairy lost her way in grand green fields
She sat alone for what seemed hours
When out of nowhere a blue dragonfly yields
Will you come and sit with me before you go?
The dragonfly stayed and sang a lovely lullaby
Follow the riverbed, listen to the water flow
The way to anywhere whispered the wise dragonfly

Garden of Eden
Trees with fruits are laden
Birds sing gaily, beasts roam wild.
Sunflower fairy
Chatted merry
Spellbound the dragonfly, like a child.

Sunflower’s my place to nest
The dragonfly comes along too
Resting until we are both refreshed
Enjoying the floral view.
We became best friends long ago
Fairy and dragonfly both blessed
With friendship that’s alert and aglow
Fantasy sunflower guests.
