Unmatchable Muse
"Contrary to Imagination, Fancy ignores logic."
-- a logical lyricist of an eye discerning
* * *
Now, once upon a summer dusk a lyric verse sublime
an airy nothing fancied forth toot sweet in one fine rhyme,
a fairy queen née Fancy who indwelled a far-off farm
where swift she ruled no flower e'er should come to any harm
among the nodding violets blush in Fancy's flower bed,
the podding pea, the picotee of nectar cap on head,
the gloriosa daisy blooms of heavy darkling eyes,
the Johnny-jump-ups bushed afresh from air and exercise,
the canopy of cacti caped in royal honeycombs,
the reeds to breezes tossing rhythmically like metronomes,
the oxlips sighing lullabies soft drifting off in peat,
and wheat true beat till neatly turned a yellow gold conceit
enringing cherry tulips sweet embracing willows lined
whose handsome barky trunks a honeysuckle's kiss entwined,
though eglantines advisedly declined on thinking twice
the ash's shade upon the edelweiss's pale advice,
while after rare adorning Fancy's locks in lilies white,
a dashing lyricist on tippy-toe took instant flight --
to leave Her Grace full fast asleep within a summer dream,
snug cuddled up inside a snoring moonbeam bright agleam.

a dedication of Respect
for
the Painful fallibilities of fancy and her faithful fools
unwise
a revolving helios rhyme lyrical satire menippean on
the romanticized notion of nature
january, 2023 -- yet at midsummer dusk,
the flowers of folly off to dream
beneath a blanket of snow
with snuggling sneezeweed seeds
