Yeah, well that last snapping turtle I caught while fishing made me a little uneasy Bill. LOL Its head was as big as a saucer! Nice write! :) ps-a little secret: Turtle was a pet name for me as a child. :)

Enjoyed this Haiku, Bill about one of nature's best toys. How that methodical creature has been around so long is amazing. It's great to see so many different subjects on the Soup...so much to write about!

Wow, "good pet for a child", how long do they live. Google states, "Some species of tortoises can live 100 years or more". Fascinating. Well done, Bill.

Thanks for sharing this one with us. I enjoyed reading it today. I thought at the end I wonder if by it being slow moving, the child would be able to stop it before it got away from them. LOL..I would hope that a mischievous child would not have one though. I appreciate your visit to my page. Sara

An informative turtle write compressed in three lines, Bill. Personally I prefer tortoises; I've had one for the past 40yrs. ~ Regards // paul

Yes, i strongly agree, good pet for a child and also for adult my dear poet friend Bill. I got 2 small adorable turtles 4 years ago but I happily gave to a cute and sweet boy in my neighborhood and he loved it so much. A well-crafted haiku my dear poet friend. Thanks a lot for sharing. God bless you always and your writings. Hugs

Your " Turtle" is a fun Haiku write. When I was 4, I had 2 turtles. They got big and we put them in a pond. Have a fun day............

Oh, Bill, these creatures truly make for splendid companions to a young soul. Moreover, they impart invaluable wisdom unto us all, for it is through their measured and unhurried gait that triumph is ultimately achieved.

They are indeed good pets for a child. And they teach us a lot--slow and steady wins the race. Inspiring poem, Bill.

So lovely to see turtles around the house. How I hate them when they are boiled for soup. So cruel.

I had a small turtle that I took with me when I went off to college. Unfortunately, Tommy met an untimely demise. I went off to my classes and left him in his bowl by the window not realizing the hot Texas sun would filter through the window. Too hot for Tommy. You get the idea....I've never had another pet. Your delightful poem reminded me of Tommy. Ha! Thank you, my west side writing bear

You came back to find Tommy floating with an upside tummy. Bummy baby. I bet yet had a cry. Love, the turtle master.
