Third Wheel
Sitting all alone, gazing deeply into space,
Pleading and dreaming they'll recognise your face.
But it often never happens, so stay in your place,
Ignored at once, you're just another basket case.
Standing by yourself, isolated in the crowds,
Bring your head down from up in the clouds!
Hoping they'll hear you as you fall to the ground,
But all that's heard is the cracks in their vows.
Lying lonely at home on the rock solid floor,
Wondering whether I should step out the door.
Is it worth losing what we had right before?
Why is it I can't handle a little bit more?
My mouth shut tight, and unable to speak,
The struggle is gruelling, feelings so weak.
Dramatic, sensitive, I've heard the critique,
A desolate and lorn soul. Oh, so very meek.
