These Steps Taken
THESE STEPS TAKEN
These steps that can take you up or down
Some of made of simple stones; profound
There are steps taken to an heaven bound
Then steps; to a burning hell underground
A toddler apprehensively takes it first step
Others; no matter how they try, are unapt
Step into my shoes, before you, condemn
Stepping outside; for some can overwhelm
Stepping up to the plate makes you a man
Some steps, we as wished we never began
We trip and stumble, then start over again
Others will not take stairways, only abstain
Ones use me as a stepping stone to attain
Crazy paving, there to drive you all insane
Cobble stones for walking are just not fun
Climbing a mountain of steps, you’re done
But the higher the steps nearer is the sun
Cliff steps that idle their way as to the sea
Are steps safe, there is just, no guarantee
Take one step at time, one, two and three
If all goes well, then another step we'll see
If steps are all wet best to just let them be
Just doesn’t do to be a wet step wannabe
You could fall over a step; as graze a knee
Steps that seem never ending with no end
Steps that as just send you around bend
There are steps if you look, that are a key
They are the steps to my heart, if you see
