The True Image

The truth of my image and reflection So many witnesses to question Mirror after mirror available to gaze upon But the conclusion never foregone Some days I do not care I know peace does not lie there Other days I worry that my face Has changed at too fast a pace But memory fades as wrinkles age Most won't view my face and gauge That beauty was my sole worth And lack of it repeals my space on Earth Drawing in with exterior allure In all honesty could never endure So now I must examine the who That I always was but never knew 4th January 2023 The way we look contest Sponsored by Unseeking Seeker

A ton of honesty here-in. Not sure, but after reading a nip of your work, you seem some too hard on yourself. Age vs. beauty…This piece felt sad. Touched me so in that regard. In terms of being a poet, the mirror would probably show none of us with a crown, but there’d be a huge number of tiaras! You’re a natural at rhyming. xox sally

I'm working on the self critic. It's taken a while but I'm finally on the road to giving myself a break :)
