The Sweetest Things

Go on, indulge me I've had a compliment This is a big one as it was delivered from none other than my own teenage child Apparently the drama teacher had demonstrated a song from Annie. I sang a line and asked if it was any good and she said I was better than the teacher then added: "You know... If you'd have had singing lessons when you were younger, you'd actually be quite good. Maybe even famous" I'm not sure how I managed to carry on driving, I certainly didn't keep my cool. I decided to sing another line from Tomorrow and I advised her she'd just complimented me and she said "I was just saying" which I took to be a further compliment then carried on singing the one line I knew from the song. "Sing something better than that!" So I ruined a bit of a Taylor Swift song I didn't know well enough before I asked her what the one I like is. Then we sang Exile together loudly until we got home. She advised I didn't get too carried away as it's too late for me now. Even a death blow follow up can't dull my moment of glory. So I've booked her a singing lesson trial for Sunday. I like to think I haven't just been involved in the long con. Pretty sure the whole singing lesson thing was my idea...

What a creative/fun write. Maybe the 2 of you should do singing lessons together. A mother/daughter group is in the making. Enjoy your day singing away................

Currently I seem to be allowed to join in (although my rendition of the wheels on the bus this morning to hilariously advise her she needed to get up for school wasn't well received haha)

Di11y, I find this story interesting indeed. What you have shown (with fun for us as a story) is that we can discover things about ourselves and pursue different paths going forward. The fact that this all came about the way it did strikes me as really cool. The other thing I might say is that kids can teach us a lot. Whether or not you end up a singing star matters not as much as the fact that you are taking a leap here. I barely know you, but I admire what you are doing and saying. Smiles!

Hmmm! Kids are so clever and know how to butter us up, but then I remember you did an audio and sang one of your poem songs last year, and it was very impressive, so I doubt it was a long con, Damn! now you have me second guessing all my erm nice comments on POTD yesterday, cheers David

Phew! I was almost going to get a blog going to see if everyone meant what they said on my poem, thank goodness for reassurance! I think you best sound proof your main bathroom once the singing lessons start lol!

The POTD long con - OMG, you need to ensure there's no Hypno Toad tactics going on lol. Pretty sure they were genuine. My daughter's comments were too, you could tell she had not intended to say something nice and she'd surprised herself as much as me :)
