Listen to poem:
I stand alone, though I see another Frequenting dark corners shouting 'other' Cloaked in shadow, or a shadow become Out run, out run, out run, out run We dance the dance, the dance of death Match or gain with every step I'm cast, I'm caught, I am the dark Within, without this useless heart My eyes close, though I don't sleep Subconscious plunges to the deep Rattles thoughts that surface first A smothered face reminds of curse Sleek and black, grey and white The clouds have fallen on this night No mis-steps, eyes sealed shut Don't look, don't look, don't look, don't look Save my soul, my soul doth rest Hear the truth which I attest I wandered out, too far off track No way forward, no way back I listen to the sounds she makes Eerie silence or grunts and grates Does she stop or start the end Is she foe or is she friend Charcoal sky and charcoal sea Immerse in shadow realm we see I dressed for day I'd known would arrive The one I'm destined to not survive

This is an amazing Ekphrasis DD. Beautifully written and the narration made it extra special

Thanks SV - it got an NA haha but considering yours and JCBs comments maybe that was personal preference of the sponsor rather than the poem itself. Thank you for your kind words x

Thank you! High praise indeed. I've done lots of ekphrasis as it's so freeing to write about something outside of self and be as dramatic as art dictates. You may enjoy my back catalogue of ekphrasis and my current contest :)
