Ghostman on Third: Why Doesn't CLUBWAKA Hire Kickball Refs?

Finding your lost mittens in the school’s lost and found. Playing with some puppies as they run and jump around. Happiness on your first day at school in your new dress. Your favorite swing when the bell rang for recess. Thinking upon these things, a smile comes to your face. When just before the ball got there, you reached first base. Each one brought joy to your life, in its very own way. Your experiences were exciting, each day. It’s the life of a children engrossed in the folly, Like the time you went downtown and rode the trolley. Or sitting under a tree, your mind running free. Thinking of places you’d go and all you would see. You were always looking for a new place to go, And every experience would help you to grow.

Hi Bill, what a lovely and nostalgic sonnet on your childhood and sharing with others on how they could of had very similar remembrances. I'm 66, and still have many fond memories of being a 1960's-70's child. I hope you're having a mellow October evening. ~

Thanks, Regina, for the visits and comments. It is fun to look back to the fun of childhood from time to time. My wife Sara Etgen- Baker is also a poet that post here on Poetry Soup, check out her poetry sometime, you'll be glad you did. She's 71 and I'm 78 until 2024. Have a pleasant day, my new friend. Bill

Childhood days are so much of fun, especially the first days in school. Going to the swing during the recess is something, I can so well relate. Each day in the initial days of school is a refreshing and learning experience. Your poem has taken me to the early years of my childhood. Enjoyed reading this.

I can remember racing out to the playground to try and get my favorite swing. A fawn memory it is to think about. I'm sure yours are fun to think about also, Valsa. Sometimes it's nice to look back on simpler times, my friend. Thanks for the visits and comments. Hugs, Bill

Love it. One of my fave memories is riding my bike, anywhere and everywhere. It was purple with a banana seat. Also playing sports with my dad, especially basketball

The freedom of childhood and the leisure of retirement with just the middle causing problems. The poem is a reminder of fun times. Thanks.

Hi Bill. Childhood should be filled with fun and laughter. Their innocence too soon disappears. I enjoyed reading your write very much because some of the memories you shared mirrored my own.

Ahh, this beautiful sonnet made me kind of nostalgic and reminisce those lovely times when I would rule those hours along with my friends and we would play all sorts of different games while narrating stories.. During the recess time.. Or sometimes just admire the jolly vibe of the environment.. Even though it's just been a few months since I finished my school, but still I miss those days a lot! Such a heartwarming poem this is dear Bill, I absolutely enjoyed reading it, truly! Wowww

Its been a while since ive read a poem from you bill, so good to see you back, you write rhymes so well! And i love how you’ve written this. Blesses are the ones with beautiful childhood to reminisce and look back upon. I really resonated with this line “ Or sitting under a tree, your mind running free.” i remember when i was little visiting grandmas island, and there was this one special tree, my hideout, escape from everything! Trees are so comforting! Soul warming poem this is! Enjoyed readin

I agree, Ink, there's something about a tree ... their strength, longevity. I really admire nature, especially the trees. I try to focus on the positives of my childhood, like most of us, I had some challenges and occasional abuse at home. Smiles ~ Blessings, my friend. Bill
