Upon umber leaf, beneath a cloudy sky fall's aroma arrives in solemn grace. Pumpkin spice and cranberry leaves drift by in wind-choreographed dance in birthplace Festive trees dressed in carnival outfit, play upon earthy hues of tree and branch Fall is a dance for our souls as we sit one we cherish for its sense of carte blanche A harvest moon now shines when day is done and plump red apples hang upon the bough. Once nurtured by the rain and summer sun they’re ready for the farmers’ picking now. Quite soon bitter cold will succeed the fall when mother nature answers winter’s call.

It’s rare that I comment on something that is neither Limerick nor rhyme, Sara, but this is splendidly written with some smashing descriptions. Like it lots. Terry

Dear Sara, you have crafted a splendid sonnet, capturing a picturesque tableau. It appears that the chilly embrace of winter has gracefully manifested itself. Perchance, autumn, with its resplendent array of vibrant garments, stands as the preeminent season in which Nature adorns herself in a kaleidoscope of exquisite tints.

thank you, dear Sotto, for providing me with such poetic comments--perchance....exquisite tints. Sincerely, I believe you think poetically...how wonderful for you! Thanks, too, for acknowledging my sonnet craftsmanship. This one was my first attempt-had to elicit hubby's help with one line--just couldn't get it to rhyme. Have a splendid day and Thanksgiving. your poetess friend in Texas

Beautiful sonnet bringing out the grandeur of the queen of seasons. Perhaps autumn is the best season when Nature puts on colorful outfits of varying hues. "Festive trees dressed in carnival outfit, play upon earthy hues of tree and branch" Enjoyed every line. Great take on the subject . All the best dear Sara.

thanks for your visit, Eve, and for your complimentary words. I agree, cold has made an entrance in our part of the world. I'll feel like a human popsicle until February...not a winter fan! :-) Have a splendid day, Sara
