Upon umber leaf, beneath a cloudy sky
fall's aroma arrives in solemn grace.
Pumpkin spice and cranberry leaves drift by
in wind-choreographed dance in birthplace
Festive trees dressed in carnival outfit,
play upon earthy hues of tree and branch
Fall is a dance for our souls as we sit
one we cherish for its sense of carte blanche
A harvest moon now shines when day is done
and plump red apples hang upon the bough.
Once nurtured by the rain and summer sun
they’re ready for the farmers’ picking now.
Quite soon bitter cold will succeed the fall
when mother nature answers winter’s call.
