Creative People | Julie Israel

We poets, writers, misfits of the world like artist or mystics or troubadours use our gifts to give insight to others we offer more pulling back the covers. We did not fit in with most of our peers. When young we were often taunted to tears. We often were quiet, in our own zone. And most of the time you’d find us alone. We’re awkwardly honest most of the time. Our minds think rhythmically also in rhyme. Counting syllables can be frustrating. Keep the lines in each verse relating. Through each medium the end is the same. Sharing our thoughts is the name of the game.

'Tis all true, Bill. There's more to the simple writings the world sees, the paintings, the sculpting, the music, and so on. There's a lot of truth here and my mind has not been up to par in keeping up with the good in life, ergo, my friend, 'tis be another Fave of your writing that's not going under the covers, thank you. Aloha, William

Dear Bill, this is such a wonderful sonnet that so many can relate to and it resonates deeply. I cherish my loved ones around me, but must admit, bit of a loner too. Creative people need solitude at times and especially if you have spiritual beliefs as well. ‘ I am with myself when alone’. I agree with Deb - you are both king and queen at PS and it wouldn’t be the same without you! Such an inspiring, so well expressed sonnet.

Oh wow, this is a brilliant sonnet that truly explains those layers of emotions within a poet's/writer's heart, who is akin to an artist and paints the sceneries of feelings whilst taking the reader's soul to a different dimension... A very heartfelt write too, "When young we were often taunted to tears" Sombre and resonating this is.."We’re awkwardly honest most of the time" Very true..Irrespective of the syllables and different forms "Sharing our thoughts is the name of the game" Yess, indeed!

I have only been writing for just a few years, but completely understand these feelings. There seems to be too much to say and such little time to say it. Thanks for the insight into a true poet's mind.

Thank you for the kind comments, Jerry. Your poetry is very good, how long we've been honing our skills doesn't matter if they understand the message, we or sending. Your poetry is relevant and clear, my friend. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

Your words resonate deeply with the soul of every poet and writer. The sense of being misfits, akin to artists, mystics, and troubadours, creates a poignant connection.. Counting syllables and keeping lines in sync can indeed be a challenge, yet your commitment to the craft shines through. 'Sharing our thoughts is the name of the game' beautifully encapsulates the purpose and joy of being a poet. Thank you for expressing the shared experiences of writers and poets with such eloquence.

Bill, We are most at ease while working, and we benefit much from periods of seclusion. We also have a proclivity to stand out. You have successfully described the obstacles that persons of the creative mind may face from time to time. Great Sonnet, a fave for me

Creative poem. The true poets are little bit aloof, but not to extreme. I never thought of writing poems until I was 61 years old. Still I don't like being alone.

You've truly captured the essence of what life can sometimes be like as a creative type. True, we don't often fit in; we work in the zone; and silence is sometimes our best companion. Thankfully, we've found a medium and community in which to be. You nailed it with this sonnet, Bill
