The Children of Yesteryear -'The Dreamer Part 2'
Prequel to ‘The Dreamer’ video
Eerily shrieks the last heron.
Through the stillness he dare not disturb
a lone wolf whimpering prompts the night
or could it be day? Ironic this pretension,
where there's no differential of time.
Strong in certitude of ours to keep
that someday we will rise from this trance…
a state once we knew to be sleep.
We wait until she awakens
The one who is called ‘The Dreamer’.
scarcely a teenager herself,
she keeps us, the children alive,
only just, with some meagre scraps
putting her life at risk ~ to find
Though food our Souls hunger for
are her recollections from before.
Wistfully she tells of the bright golden globe
beaming morning skies ~ infinite
in exquisite hues to duck egg blues
cushioned upon cotton clouds of white.
Luscious greens of Spring lawns that sparkled
splendidly jewelled with morning dew,
bubbling streams of jades and blue
where animals of the forest
lapped, sipped and rested ~
Of how a billion twinkling stars lit the midnight sky
heralding the silvery moon’s graceful glide.
The notion that the camera doesn’t lie
is a fallacy
It did…
Tinkling sweet musical notes of Nature,
Song birds would wobble beatifically
Though ~ the rebellious ocean in its fury
intensified colors to intimidate
lustrous hues deceptively all viewed
through rose coloured glasses and blurring tools,
that unfortunately, lulled poor hapless fools,
to an apathetic dream state and abuse.
We wander along wondrously
through the archives of her mind,
in colours denied to childlike eyes ~
Eyes grown old long before their time
we now perceive devastation
through a toxic sulphuric haze,
of muddy browns, lack lustre greys
and rusty reds that stain and taint,
legacies of our forefathers mistakes.
But it is the power of Hope
and we ~ the ones who have survived
the cataclysm ~ keeps her belief aglow
with beautiful visions of dreams renewed
and so ~ we will witness yet once more
the world ~ the once beautiful Planet Earth ~
She ~ 'The Dreamer' was fortunate to know.
We will rise in wisdom ~ from the ones who were fools
We will be fearless ~ where once we were afraid
We will be powerful ~ where once we were weak
