In this short poem, the idea is that she is still in her home. But the family realizes that she walked into town and never came back. So, yes, it's time to find her and put her in a memory care facility! Everyone probably knows SOMEONE with some form of dementia these days. Lots of prayers needed!!

Yolanda, thank you for appreciating this short poem. I tried to say alot in few words. My uncle developed Alzheimers and we all finally realized what was happening when he drove all the way from his home in New Mexico to Colorado and didn't even remember how he got there, or why he left his house.

Yes, and my uncle drove his car from New Mexico all the way to Colorado to visit a cousin. And when he got there he didn't remember driving there, or why he even left his house!! Of course, at that point his wife called us because she realized that his dementia had gotten really serious. It was Alzheimers and he died several years later.

My mom just turned 100 an has Alzheimer's dementia so we have a lot of experience with this. It's a lot of work for all of us.

When my uncle started with Alzheimer's, he got up in middle of the night in AZ and drove to his niece's house in Colorado. Didn't know how he had gotten there!! His wife had to keep a close eye on him for the rest of his life... about three years . And, of course, no more car keys or driving
