Soul Examination

The scene, often the sofa, after it's gone dark but I neglected to turn on the light but continued to sit and think. The role: soul examiner, well of my own anyway. Perhaps it's navel gazing, perhaps it's useful introspection, it's hard to tell from this vantage point. Looking inwards is a strange perspective, from an educational point of view. It all started long ago. I believe it was last month or it might have been from birth. Soul examination is exhausting. Feet stuck in the mud, head stuck in the clouds. Looking inwards. Looking forwards, I would like to be a hop, skip and a jump away from insight. Here's me, not square one but single digits. Vehicularly challenged for forward motion. Turns out you can't just forgive everyone then be hunky dory. The memory sticks to your ribs, about soul height, causing hiccups. I'm guaranteed that tomorrow is a new day though, with new possibilities and with one foot in front of the other I should be moving onwards and upwards. Soul examination conclusion is to lighten the load rather than abandon the ship. With a lighter load I'll go far. Well, I'll switch the light on for thinking. 12 Jan 23 Metrical Tale Poetry Contest Sponsor: Hilo Poet
