Smiling Blessings
When my man smiles
his 24 bites
total 48 plus
slip off
them retainers
and satisfy
the boy
who still lives
in doubts of a recent marriage
the unpleasant ways of adulthood:
cleaning your intimates
securing your food
keeping the electric solid
ways that brought our parents
by dining tables deep through the nights
and present for red-eye flights to God's throne room
the next day, seeking blessings before sunrise
When my man smiles
Christmas comes inside me
I receive his gifts
the invitation to play
