Sleepy Town

We were getting old, our minds still quite sound Just one more move before we’re glory bound We made the decision to look around Decided we’d look for a sleepy town It was harder than we thought it would be To find just the place for Sara and me We wanted a place where we could feel free A place close to nature for walks you see A place in the country that had a pond Just a short walk to the woods just beyond To see nature’s beauty, a deer and fawn To watch the sun set and rise in the dawn A quiet place to write, we have surely found We’ll soon make the move to our sleepy town.

Thank you my poet pal, we're still looking since the place I wrote about didn't work out financially. :-( we're fine though. Another adventure for us. Hugs, Bill

I enjoyed your sonnet very much, Bill; I can relate to that; the older I get, the more that applies. I trust you and Sara will find the peace that you need soon, and you will find happiness there. Blessings to you both. Old Duck

Thank you for the visit and the comments, Shirley, there is something about aging that cultivates the need for calm and peace. We no longer thrive on change and chaos. lol The political turmoil and hate has worn Sara and I out. We just want some peace and serenity in our lives. Smiles and Blessing my friend. Bill

Hope you find what you like, Bill and Sara. I did! Animals, peace, quiet. Great neighbors, too. And the number of churches here is phenomenal. There’s a lake not far away, too…it’s the perfect city. People are not buying right now as prices are through the roof. But this AM, Biden said there is no inflation mow. It was all under Trump …lol Huggs, Pangie

I happy for you Panagiota, sounds like you found what you were looking for. We're still looking, we thought this was our last move. Hard to live with rent house neighbors that hate us. It seems insane to me that someone could hate Sara and I, but they say they do. We're praying and looking, the right place will find us. Thanks for reading my poetry, my dear friend. Smiles ~ Blessings Bill

We are planing to move soon (in the next 3-12 months), the place I wrote about in the poem didn't work out, we'd have to buy 5 acres with the cottage and the land was $500,000. Out of our price range. :-( We're still looking though. It was where my grand parents lived before their deaths twenty years ago. It is heavenly, and expensive. LOL Hope your week is going well, Deb. Hugs, Bill

I too look for such a place. Your beautiful description of a town so serene and quiet makes me long for such a place. I wish you and Sara a happy time to watch Nature at close quarters and inspire your muse to pen poems after poems. As ever your sonnets are a joy to read, dear Bill.

Thank you, my dear friend. Your comment about my sonnets is very encouraging. We weren't able to make a deal on the place of my poem, but we are still looking. Good luck on your search too. As we age, peace, serenity and nature seem to become more valueable than the material things in life. I just want to love and be loved while I'm here in this body. Hugs, Bill

Thanks for the visit and comment, Mike. We're excited and sad at the same time. We love our home, but with no family near us, we don't want to face the possible need for assisted living, at home alone. :-) Have a happy Monday, my friend. Bill

My husband grew up in a sleepy town. There are advantages to being in a sleepy town. "Just one more stop before we're glory bound" Great Line!

Bill, the sonnet is stunning and well-written. At a certain point in our life, all we want is to live in harmony with nature and take advantage of the serenity that it offers. I sincerely hope you and your lovely wife are able to locate what you're searching for.

Thanks, Lasaad. One last move for us ... we think. Our little quiet town of 5,000 eight years ago, is now one of the fastest growing cities in the state of Texas. 20,000 and projected growth to 0ver 60,000 in the next 8 years. We want peace and quiet. Have a great week my friend. Bill
