Sea Glass
overdosed
happiness found in the in-between haze
dullness removed
ocean froth masking the rising bile
that dribbles down my still smiling face
like deadly phial, I'll thrash 'til I splinter
yet still I'll glint in the sun
emptied
comatose, I tumble
grazed in the free fall
to land in the leaden sleep
I forever fumbled for
post-choice: poisoned
from powder licked off smooth sides
until crossbones ripple on tongue
cobalt cyanosis
then infinity of blue grey
salt cleaning out scratches
until picked up and pocketed
prize of damage is obscure beauty
finally handheld, as sea glass
