Running Away

When your heartbeats drum their message of love. My heart soars like the birds flying above. As flashing thunder streaks across dark skies, I will come swiftly, believe not their lies. If any would stop me, my rage I’ll display. Nothing or no one will stand in my way. True love hath no captor, it must be free. Our hearts and our love are just meant to be. So, hold on to faith and be not dismayed, The last card in this game has not been played. They ceased control because we’re still young, Meet me out back when you hear the bell rung. I’ve bought fast horses, we’ll be on the run, You’ll be real safe, long as I have my gun.

such a clever poem, Bill. Reminds me of my youthful adventurous spirit when I followed the wild man of my dreams. We were on the run, embracing hope, always seeking a better situation, our higher selves. Thanks for being a poet.

I would say this is about two young people in a love, as the young chap said 'If any would stop me, my rage I'll display'. So they elope with two fast horses he has bought. So cute, so romantic and so different, really enjoyed this write Bill. I was sixteen, lived next to a Scots family their son also 16 fell and we were madly in love, his parents were immigrating to Scotland and he wanted us to get married. It never happened I was at school but still, was heartbroken at the time. Hugs, Jenn

Awe, young love, what a thrill, and what first heartbreak can teach us. We always remember our first love. Have a blessed day, Jennifer. Bill

Globe trotting good Bill, we need no gun if we're on the side of Faith, nice poem.

Not about me this time, just two kids in love back in the 1800's out west in the U.S.A. Running from abusive father, with gun. lol Just trying to write something a little less serious. I do agree though, concerning Faith. I do not own a gun. Blessings, Bill
