hatchings give impression of shade
closer still
and there are irregularities
mesh always to get caught in
watching seasons change
wanting not escape, but release
yet careful viewing shows no gaps
the only space is the vantage point
to steadily cover canvas
with paint and scars
edge to edge I scour
forwards and back
eye ravenous for a difference
until I've absorbed
all the colour
all that's left then is to be weary
staring out
letting the moment go
uncaptured.
