Opera

Opera has always seemed to me a bizarre musical menagerie. Strange characters roam the stage spuming mostly revenge and rage. The plots are thick and laughable, if not perversely diabolical! – murder, incest, rape, adultery, assassination and conspiracy – the bread and butter of centuries and abnormal human activities. Settings, costumes, pageantry if nothing else, are worth a see – and always kinder on the eyes than ear-shattering vocal highs! Add the tedious dramatization while with eager anticipation, along with my aching posteria, I wait for that one redeeming aria.

Ha! Great poem with a perfect ending, Maurice! I do not like opera one bit and am not ashamed to admit it!

Honesty is best in all things, Ilene. Operatic plots are often so convoluted, they are ridiculous. I much prefer the music. Many thanks for liking my ending to this poem, there's much truth in it. / Maurice
