Technology makes everyone feel old. A laptop is old after two years. Someone always has something newer. Everyone seems to feel obsolete now, even the young. --Jennifer Egan In April 2018 you and I were introduced and quickly became 'friends. Over the past five years, you've been steadfast and true, my daily companion. In 2020 you were with me during the pandemic connecting me to the outside world. You were in the shadows with me as I tried to make sense of the outcome of the 2020 election. Since then, you shared political cartoons and satire with me as I struggled with the aftershocks and tidal waves of the Biden presidency. You remained strong and energized during those long novel-writing days, seldom needing a recharge or reboot. You celebrated with me the day I completed the last chapter of my novel helping me find an editor and publisher. But there was the day in 2022 when you blacked out after a 'restart' and 'updates.' You gave me quite a scare, but a visit to the tech doctor brought you back to life. You were with me as I began writing poetry. Without judgment you gave me an opportunity to explore another form of creative expression. You made it easy for me to navigate a new site allowing me to post my creations at PoetrySoup. You were with me in my post-surgery days providing me emails and messages that comforted me. You even stayed up with me during my painful, sleepless nights helping me to compose stories using only my left hand. Now, though, you're a bit worse for the wear and slow to recharge. Sadly, you're considered an 'antique' in the tech world. Unfortunately, I must let you go and establish a relationship with a newer version of you. Know though, I'll miss the 'cookies' and 'favorites' we've shared over the years. Indeed you were quite a ‘cache,’ old faithful.

Thanks, Linda, for stopping by and appreciating my wit. I understand getting comfortable with one's laptop. I will say that I've had my new one for about and week; we quickly became friends. She's much faster than her predecessor. LOL :-) Sara

thanks, Tom, for stopping by and for your kind words about my 'slice of tech.' Clever remark. Yes, old faithful is gone, unplugged and ready to go to the tech junk yard.

I'm somewhat low tech, but wasn't always that way. I just haven't stayed current, and things in the tech world change quickly. As far cars, all I can do is drive one and respond when one of the 'idiot' lights come on. Thanks for reading and commenting. Enjoy your evening, Sara

One can easily relate to the story you narrated, Sara. We spend so much time on our computers--they become extension of us--good friends they are. Much impressed how well you executed this theme.
