My dad was an avid fisherman, often arriving at the lake in the predawn hours.  He loved watching the sunrise and called it his 'Morning Reverie."

dawn by the river daylight has barely arrived, mist dances gently morning reverie how perfectly the songbirds fill the silence the sun is his clock accurately keeping time has the time he needs old flat-bottom boat his rod and torn fishing net – father’s calloused hands sensing the currents casts his line into water waiting patiently he gazes into river's shimmering water his eyes stay steady before the line breaks he sees the fish’s white belly reels it into boat

Queen of haiku! Ah what a beautiful chain! And thats a lovely picture. My son loves fishing, i am not so good with it, fishes always tease my rod and leave or but ive caught few times and its fun , when i get to. I love the songbird stanza, and how you wrote “ the sun is his clock” its actually true back in the days i heard people who go fishing they let sun tell them the time.” Waiting patiently” ah i can only imagine how patient he was. Love this. Your love for your dad so evident in this

thanks for stopping by, Ink, and for sharing your words about your son. I was never good at fishing either, but I wanted to be with my dad, so I went with him. I often asked him 'what time is it?' He'd look up at the sun and say, 'hmm...about 11 a.m.' He was patient with me.I'm glad you saw my love for him. I do appreciate your thoughtful, mindful comments. Have a great day, Sara
