Nighttime arrives like a welcome lull in a fine opera. I step outside noticing how the nighttime graces the sky with its ambient, deep hues. I climb into the hammock strung between two trees in our backyard. As the evening darkens, I lean back hoping to relax and put behind me the worries and stresses of the day. Over my head I see the moon, a deep silver ballerina turning pirouettes with perfect form.
In the distance, I see moonbeams arcing across the land, their beauty speaking to my heart and soul.
moonbeams, whispers of light
ride upon the starry sky
as if velvet black asked them to dance
moonbeams come amidst
the stars, as an ode to the sun
bright pathways in starry night—dreams take flight
