Love and Pain

Inspired by Love and Pain by Edvard Munch (Vampire). I wrote this just before going to sleep last night and forgot about it. It looks alright as a first draft and worth a post I think even though it could be tided up. To love and pain I succumb As the flaming tendrils gently tether me to you I struggle not Whilst I am in your arms there is nothing else to weigh heavy on my mind I am here, held in slumber Waking is where pain resides Forever visible at the edges of memory As I slide further into the abyss No words are required I utterly give of myself Your power over me so tangible it is a taste in the air, a weight that would stop me running should I wish to But I don't wish to ever leave your side

Even the paralizing pain of the bite, hasnt stopped him from wanting to be with her. He gives of himslf willingly as is so evident in your discription of the pinting. Munch portrays her power over him and you so delicately describe it we can almost see her weiding her power as a seamingly innocent embrace. Beautiful description of a perplexing painting D.

I think you've captured Mr. Munch's Vampire well. Makes me realize how much sleep craves our embrace. As Mr. Shakespeare wrote in sympathy, "Sleep that knits up the ravell'd sleeve of care, the death of each day's life, sore labour's bath, balm of hurt minds, great nature's second course.." I was struck by your line, "Waking is where pain resides". But without leaving slumber's side we could not rise to embrace love.

I do love getting absorbed into Munch's paintings - I've gone through several of them on here. I find the vampire and kiss ones beautiful but even the seemingly unattractive ones speak of such deep emotion that the painting itself becomes unimportant - you can feel the emotion radiating. Thank you for taking the time to comment, I love your work - you have real talent
