Letting Go Of Past Mistakes

Pictures there upon the wall, each person once held me dear. At times we were living together, now not one lives near. Each has a life they must live and thoughts on which to ponder. My life goes on, I grow old and still I can’t but wonder, How different things could have been, if love we didn’t squander. It’s sad to know the errors I’ve made, the times my choices were wrong, The love I’ve felt but couldn’t show, for I had waited too long. The times I couldn’t be where they wanted me to be, The pain and suffering they couldn’t see, They didn’t know the authentic me. I wish them all, love, peace, and joy, in the lives that they are living, And hope someday they’ll learn to forgive as they have been forgiven. I hope they’ll know in their heart of hearts and deep within their soul, How much I love and pray for them, as all of us grow old. None of us can truly know how other’s lives will unfold.

Iv had so many come and go, some come in the form of blood and family and some as friends, but as time goes by so much changes and sometimes we let go and move on hoping forgiveness will be received if any was done wrong or hurt. You’ve expressed very well here and i can see it is a sincere one that will definitely be received well. I believe it is important to forgive to heal and move on and only few accept that they too can sometimes do mistakes. Its nice to see that in this heartfelt poem

So true, Ink, they're so many people that evidently think they are perfect, it seems crazy to me. Most probably just are not strong enough yet to handle their imperfections. It's fine, we all have our own path or paths to walk and lessons to learn here in the earth school. Love and Light my friend. Bill

All we can hope for is that we can learn from our past in order to create a better future.

That is an uplifting phrase, AA. Don't worry, be happy. Not worrying is a big part of experiencing happiness. Bill

Life is a balance of holding on and letting go... its never easy, sometimes easier than others.. we all make mistakes, but the most important thing is to make amends... Or some kind of peace.. another great poem ..

Thank you, my friend. Sometimes I fall into the (perfectionist) trap. I want to be perfect, and it's just not possible for me it seems. No matter how some people treat me, I know it's always my responsibility to forgive and act from a place of Love. It is a challenge at times. Thanks for the thoughtful comments, Silent One, you are important in my life. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

Human imperfection is a flaw none of us can escape, Bill. Only by forgiving others, will we be forgiven. Mending relationships is not an easy task, but one worthwhile in the doing.

I agree with all your comments, Lin. I don't have much of a problem in forgiving others, but with long distances between us, it's hard to do it in person. Sometimes up close and personal is the only way it works. Good advice though. Thank you,my friend. Hugs, Bill

As we go through life we make many mistakes and say things we shouldnt have said, But it's never too late to make amends and it lifts a big weight off your shoulders. Thought provoking verse Bill. Tom

You're right, Tom, when you've done all you can do, it's time to let it go. Thanks for reading and commenting on my poetry, my friend. Have a pleasant week! Bill
