I Think About
I think about the time
When I had no worries
No responsibilities
And no choices
I think about the time
When my only care
Was going to school
And then coming home
To sing along with my music
I think about the time
When I met you
At the town fair
You grasped my hand
And entranced me
I think about the time
When you handed me a strawberry
And got on your knees
To hear an, ‘I do’
I think about the time
We walked down the aisle
You were 18 and I, 16
Promising forever
I think about the time
Our son was born
Big blue eyes
And features that resemble you
I think about the time
We lost our baby
When driving home
And the doctor said
He was sorry
I think about the time
Not long after
When our daughter was born
And erased the pain
We’d endured
A bundle of pure joy
I think about the time
We packed all our bags
Moved from our old place
To our new home
And still, we reside
I think about the time
We suffered emotionally
Almost giving up
On our relationship
But we were stronger than that
Nothing could tear us apart
Each moment in time
Has been a passing one
Emotions built up and
Memories made
I think about those times
And it makes me appreciate
Everything I’ve been through
Because without those thoughts
My mind would be
An empty vessel
Those moments made me
What I am today
