I Listen Intently

I hear the guitar music float downstairs The opening track from our wedding video Then More Than Words (I remember when we saw them live...) Can I attune my ear Can I attune my heart Will our next conversation mirror this music I don't know this next track Maybe none of it is related to me He won't be aware of how intently I listen Or how sad I am I just went to the bottom of the stairs Called up for him to play something for me Got first bars of I Hate Everything About You I presume a joke Then 'I don't know what you want' Where do I finish the poem now He's playing a song I don't know again And I don't know what to ask for Ahh Nothing Else Matters I do like that one I'm not sure he knows that though

Relationships can be tough, DD, and full of ambivalent hurt. You have wonderfully paired the hope born on your wedding day with the anguish of your current day. Thank you for sharing your heart. I know many will relate to your words and experience. Sending you abiding blessings of comfort.
