I didn’t really know what I should do. Dad said, “you need to pull her close to you.” When I tried to do like he told me to, I made a mistake and stepped on her shoe. She was so nice; she just gave me a wink. I said to her, “could I get you a drink?” She took a moment, then said, “sure I think?” I said, “I’ll be right back, before you blink.” We finished our drinks, she said, “let’s just talk.” I bettered her offer with, “while we walk?” The chaperon was watching like a hawk. I said, “let’s go right now”, she didn’t balk. We walked until it began to get dark, Then we sat down on a bench in the park. Later we left when we heard a dog bark. We didn’t dance but we both left our mark.

This is wonderful, Bill. I've read it several times. It's one of those ever lasting moments that we can we all relate to. Very nostalgic. And I'd also like to say, it's a beautiful ode to a very romantic and sweet moment, and you've written it in a way that's very classy. Awesome job!

Those first days of realizing that we're attracted to the opposite gender can be such tender memories. You did it poetic justice, Bill.

awww...such a touching poem about the thrill and excitement of one's first dance. I can so see you doing this very thing as a young teenager. That thought made me smile. I remember our first dance and how we sat on the hood of my car, talked, and watched the sun rise...priceless memory of love igniting. hugs, your cuddles

Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end. (And they didn't) yeah! Merry Christmas Sara. Love, Sugar Bear.

Bill my friend, this delightful and light-hearted poem captures a charming moment in a young person's life, navigating the uncertainties and awkwardness of a social situation. The simplicity of the narrative and the playful tone make it an engaging and relatable piece... The poem begins with a sense of uncertainty, reflecting the speaker's indecision about how to proceed in a social setting. The advice from Dad to introduces a common theme of parental guidance and the awkwardness of such advice.

Very romantic Bill, I think we can all relate to those early encounters, that horrible awkward feeling, where you're all fingers and thumbs and you say some stupid things lol. Tom

I sure did. LOL Those were some fun lessons to learn though. With all our moving and all the different schools I attended, I met a lot of interesting people. Time for bed here, Goodnight my friend. Bill
