Her Name

She’d pull the sun from the sky if it shone too bright Drain the oceans purely out of malice and spite Commission a fortress devoid of day's light Simply to evade any quarrelsome plight Spineless slights have left her little hands bare Compelling her to face the world's ghastly glare She does not harbour the hubris to preach of fair Nevertheless please do humour her final gasp for air Announce her guilt with little sorrow for sins of folklore Her thoughts expunged embrace a more silent score Why leave the girl festering out here a barren sore The summer's harvest now rotted to the core A heart seeking truth will decay all the same So spare her a grave for heaven seeks her name It's in the charge now of saints to stake their claim Before the earth absorbs her mawkish mortal shame
