Heart's Horizon Line
(Inspired by Ronnie James Dio song Fallling Off the Edge of the World)
The silent watchers, shadows in the fray,
Behold a soul that teeters on the brink.
The world below, a dizzying array,
Where solid ground begins at last to shrink.
No guiding hand, no comfort in the night,
Just whispered fears that echo in the mind,
As reason's flame struggles against the blight,
And ancient hopes are slowly left behind.
A precipice of thought, a fragile hold,
Where yesterday's assurance starts to fade.
The future calls, a story yet untold,
Or endless void, a choice that must be made.
O, lonely spirit, on the verge of flight,
Will you embrace the darkness, or the light?
