I didn't want gifts The reactions spoiled the day I'm awkward like that Please take the things away Things they'd made or chose would be fine Not things to put me on the spot Why does this happen time after time I thought it was me (and it is of course) But it feels everyone's set up It's the absolute worst I make a request for this not to be It's disregarded Now I feel there's something wrong with me My older daughter saved the day when she got out of bed Produced a card drawn in pen Containing thoughts from her head She'd made me a Lego heart and a bracelet saying 'love' It's all that I wanted (And a wish that mother's day wasn't so tough) But I still have to endure conceding I'm bad I'm not quite sure I want to I'd rather no one be sad So if you're stuck for a gift, the shops don't raid Get the children involved We just want something homemade
