Follow the Fire

Living in the damp and dreary cold Oxygen diluted to almost nullify the benefit Breathing existence rather than life Waking up Seeing colour Follow the fire Feel the warmth One foot in the shallows One foot hovering over the burning embers Splash or dance being my choice Don't mix the two for fear the fire in my soul will be extinguished Follow the fire Then dance til my death Drown in the waters Out of my depth Choices, choices

Di11y Da11y, I appreciate your support for my Flash Poetry Challenge (11). The depths of your thinking were on display from your very first posted poem on Poetry Soup. Very thought-provoking.

My scientific mind visualizes the choices of evolution leading to new species and the development of self-awareness. But that is just me!

Ahh right back to the beginning. I literally started writing poetry in December 22, so this is one of my first poems. It was a poetry prompt at that time and in my mind feeling stuck between two difficult choices

I had to come and read your initial contribution to Soup, Dilly, and I confess that I'm pleasantly impressed, especially by the metaphoric touch. Regards // paul

Haha thanks Paul - I was quite disheartened when this didn't place as I quite liked it. Then my dot to dot one placed and I was hooked on poetry (feel free to give tinsel a miss - I think my acrostics came on a bit by the time I wrote the nightmare one :D ) Thank you for taking an interest and letting me know

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God bless you.
