Ego's Demise

I never thought they would figure me out How could they find me in the layers of illusion? I never thought one could completely turn about So many pleasures, I kept them in confusion Now after all these years, it has come to this I push the same buttons, but their minds start to think They’ll kill their ego in their search for pure bliss I flash the bright lights, they don’t even blink They’ve turn to a silence, and peace as they start Repelling my luring by turning their backs Inside they are peering, down deep in their hearts They’re through with my lust, they see what it lacks It was a great run, we sure had some fun, I’m crucified with Christ; they now live through God’s Son.

Thanks, Vijay. I've been a little too pleased with myself in the past, I seem to have a better handle on ego in the present. I hope all is well with you and those you love, my friend. Bill

You did your sonnet well it rhymes and flows and has an important message... When we let go of ego, we become conscious of our surroundings.

Indeed, when thoughts slow down, ego recedes and then if heart be pure, one day the ego just falls off, like a dead leaf and with the false self out of the way, we stand in a singularity, throbbing with the vitality of pure spiritual light radiating bliss. Beautiful Sonnet, Bill, thanks for sharing.

I wanted to applaud after reading your Sonnet. Your imagery was powerful and spot on. The annhilation of ego is ours if we could just see ego for what it is--the manner in which you described it. You even personified ego...which was so appropriate! Masterful, hubby. I'm grateful for you and your ability to put your deepest thoughts into meaningful words. Hugs, Me... :-)
