two, four, eight, and more sixteen, thirty-two, sixty-four doubling, doubling troubling, troubling keep on going at least four more you’ll find yourself at a thousand twenty-four doubling, doubling troubling, troubling what if we go another four more sixteen thousand three eighty-four doubling, doubling troubling, troubling time to stop, just four more two hundred sixty-two thousand one hundred forty-four I’ll stop now, don’t want to bore all have even numbers as their core

Top of the morning to you bill. It was your title that caught my attention. I have always been a numbers person because of my dad who always remembered dates times etc and with playing cards too. Your entry was entertaining and you managed to execute it with rhyme (smile) - enjoy the morning and day - blessings always

Numbers are amazing how they can stack up this way. In numerology when you count up each number of our birthdate, you can keep reducing the number down by adding them together but if you eliminate all 9's from the equation, your destiny number will still reduce to the same lowest number. Do you know about numerology? YOu might find it fun.

Oh this takes me back to my misspent youth, Bill, 'Had 5 pubs and a club in the village where i was raised' Pub number one started with half a pint of beer then doubled up. I think it takes doubling 1 person or thing, once a month, only 3 years to reach the 8 Billion people we have on Earth right now ( approximately). It doesn't take long if everyone does anything to saturate our planet. :-) Thanks for the comment, my dear friend. Blessings, Bill

Ha, ha! Love it... Is it by chance that you chose 2? 2 is my favorite number, and I used to double it in my head with high school students. As we moved past 2010 and students couldn't multiply single-digit numbers without a calculator, they were just awestruck. I used to stop after I topped one million... lol. Such a difficult yet fascinating subject, Bill. You merely used multiplication, as I can see. We run the danger of making our issues significantly worse in our minds if we focus on the problem rather than the solution. One example of a number that is so enigmatic that it cannot even be calculated using all possible permutations is the transcendental number, pi 3.1415. Thanks for the important subject and great writing.

well, aren't you the clever poet! I know you love numbers...you're my numbers guy...plus your poem brought to mind the phrase from Shakespeare's play, Macbeth. "Double, double, toil and trouble, fires burn and cauldrons bubble.." Sometimes I double my troubles by the way I negatively focus on them." Thanks for sharing your poem ... your true love!
