Curse, Or Blessing -- You Decide - Both Audio and Text

Listen to poem:
Ichabod Zit, in seventh grade, had sixty thousand pimples, but by the time he graduated, most of them were gone. He wound up getting married to the cutest girl in school, but, sadly, all the children that the two of them would spawn Struggled with complexion problems, just the way their dad had…acne so profuse you’d swear their heads were full of puss. Oozing yuck and seeping goo, from ten to seventeen, commuting back and forth for school, the driver of the bus Made them sit alone, and by a window, just in case there simply wasn’t time enough for him to safely stop. He knew he was responsible for all the other riders, and didn’t want them goobered - if a Zit should ever “pop!” Just a couple weeks ago, our youngest daughter, Sarah, claims - because a friend of hers had nowhere else to sit – (And while the bus is moving you are not allowed to stand) - the girl was forced to share a seat with Jebadiah Zit! Now, Jebadiah’s nice and all, but, true to form, his face looks the same, complexion-wise, as Ichabod’s once did. Oozie lumps from cheek to cheek and all across his forehead, made him - like his father was - an almost friendless kid. But, like they say, ‘what seems a curse can sometimes be a blessing’. Buster Boogerelli was the school’s biggest brat, And Sarah’s friend was whining as the children left the bus, being teased by heartless kids because of - where she’d sat. Buster threw a leg in front of Jebadiah’s path, jambed a finger in his chest, then very coldly said, “Listen, Zit…if you don’t find some other way to school, I’ll knock out all the snot and puss that’s crammed inside your head!” Having promised Ichabod he’d strive to never fight, Jebadiah stood prepared to take the bully’s shot. Several seconds passed as Boogerelli paused to ponder, “If I slug him...won’t I get all slimed with puss and snot?” To his great relief that day, young Zit escaped a beating, and Boogerelli wisely dodged the mess there would have been. Jebadiah’s pimples were a blessing, for a change. Imagine…warding bullies off with only - acned skin!
