Cobbled Town Shopping
I took a trip to a cobbled town
To waste some time and look around
I entered a shop where time had stopped
Treasures of the past, widely stocked
Paintings faded by the years
Old teacups freshly washed by volunteers
Designer shoes, priced too low
Too small for me, unless I chop off a toe
A swaddled baby doll from 1952
Covered in eyeshadow of blue
The owner clearly now long gone
Never again to steal eyeshadow from her mum
An album called the Unforgettable Glenn Miller
Sorry Glenn, times a killer
An embroidered skirt that I found
Bought for just six English pound
Then I went to one of those unique craft stores
Boasting they were over 3 whole floors
The building dated from 1700
Was it haunted, I briefly wondered
They had an iron spiral staircase down
What a beautiful creative playground
Original wooden stairs went higher
Crafty nonsense I did acquire
I stopped in to a art gallery
Talked to the artist in charge from 12:30 til 3!
Shared my poems to words of praise
It was clearly one of my personable days
I surprise myself when I forget my guard
Perhaps evidence liking me isn't too hard
Then I walked in the rain without getting wet
Felt more and more magical with every step
Felt like puddles splashes didn't touch me
Until they did and so I went home for tea
