I try to write with empathy. But how could I possibly know what goes through the minds of these two men. One alive and one dead. I write about things I think I know, but no one really knows what goes on in the hearts and minds of men... or women for that matter. A person tries to understand, to be understanding. I wonder where forgiveness factors into such crimes and how the victims ever forgive and the families of victims ever forgive. Boys Cry 2, just as girls do. Adults around children need to listen, believe and note silence of their children and the children of others, with eyes wide open and awareness of the people around their children, who may be perceived as charming and trustworthy and particlarly those of strangers. Education of children in these matters (and adults) is important from the get go.

Wonderfully empathetic write Leanne, I wrote one similar from a childs point of view, called I was just a kid, horrible things sometimes do happen to good kids, your painted the picture with excellence. Rev21:3,4 comforts me!

p.s. John, just wanted you to know. I went to reply to your comment in the Seats of Amygdala poem and I accidentally deleted it. If you'd like to add it in again, I will comment there with my response. If not, Thank you for the kind comment. Leanne

Thank you John. I am sorry you suffered, if that was you in your poem. I am sorry for all the little children who have suffered sexual abuse, or abuse of any kind. We are here to protect them. Thank you for the bible verse. x

Yes Leanne. The holy books like Torah, Bible , Quran and other holy scriptures do have very powerful words..........the arabs writers who used to boast of thier language and eloquence became speechless before their holy scripture............

Thank you. Some of the most powerful words and stories are in that book. Aligns perfectly with the message of this poem. Perhaps, a venture forth into the Quran and other well known books would be beneficial as well.

Wow heartwrenching! Leanne, such a savage and searing portrayal of child abuse. Your intimate style made me 'feel' your poem rather than read your poem and I felt this pain deep inside, psychologically and physically - heartrending. A powerful, penetrating and devastating write.. ~Susan

Dear Susan, it is never easy for anyone to write about these things, let alone discuss them. Children need to be fully educated with open forums in schools, church, community, family for discussion. ALL children need to know that there are people who will believe the stories they tell and that there are truly good people who will listen and protect them. If that 2nd boy in the story had been listened to, perhaps his course in life could have been averted. The children need to know, there is power in TRUTH, it will set them free. Thank you for taking the time to read.
