This morning, I discovered a small trail leading off one of the main trails that I frequently walk. I shielded my eyes and looked deep into the woods but wasn’t able to see the direction of the trail. I listened closely and heard the giggling water of a nearby brook. The trees gentle rustled beckoning me, “Embrace the moment. Follow the trail. Follow it wherever it might lead.” I stepped forward and meandered my way down the small trail. A rug of golden-browns and a shelter of extended limbs resting beneath foliage hues greeted me. I sat down on a tree stump, closed my eyes, and listened as the peaceful water brought tranquility to my soul.
Life flows like a stream, Ever-changing, never still, Embrace each moment.

I absolutely adored the leisurely stroll you took along the winding path that followed the gentle flow of the brook. The way you described yourself sitting on a smooth, moss-covered rock, fully immersed in the symphony of the brook's gurgling melodies, truly serene moment. Once again, dear Sara, you have crafted a piece that effortlessly captures the essence of nature's beauty and evokes a sense of profound appreciation.

I'm grateful, Sotto, that you accompanied me on my leisurely stroll and sitting with me whilst I sat on a rock. It was a serene moment I actually experienced. Your words give me confidence...I appreciate you beyond words. Have a blessed Sunday, Sara

Is this a true story my friend and did Bob go with you? You must write these whilst having breakfast, as you do them so well.. you should write a novel.. or, maybe you already have several? I jut love how your words paint a picture and I can see the command of your English language is on a very high level... and love the haiku at the end..

thanks for stopping by, Silent One. Yes, this is a true story and, yes, Bill accompanied me. I love your comments and suggestions. I do write early in the morning--I'm the only awake and I'm able to write more clearly. Yes, I've written one novel (unpublished) as well as a collection of memoir vignettes. I'm grateful you appreciate my need to paint pictures with words--something my mom taught me. I'm glad you liked the Haiku...and English was one of my college majors. You figured me out :-) smiles & enjoy your Sunday, Sara

Good advice in the writing and the haiku. I can't walk very far anymore which is very upsetting to me, but I am still walking in life, and like Robert Frost I have learned about life it goes on. Thanks for sharing this one with us and for dropping by my page. Sara

thanks for your thoughtful words, Sara. I love to walk and walk most mornings. Yesterday somehow I strained a calf muscle so I won't be able to walk for several days. BTW, Frost is one of my favorite poets...Have a great day, Sara

“Embrace the moment. Follow the trail. Follow it wherever it might lead.” Lovely, inspiring writing, Sara. The never ending story of existence. We need only follow the infinite trails, as many different as their are people. With soulful commitment, never lacking in miracles.

Brilliant reminder, that’s exactly what im doing today, embracing the moment, embracing little things, as theres so much in life that we can appreciate if we take a minute to do so. I love the way you’ve written this haibun in such a descriptive manner. So soothing and so magical. Especially the giggling water of nearby brooks and your use of colors that shows us this trail. How stunning! Seamless flow too! You have a way with words. And the haiku sums up everything so eloquently! Impeccable

thank you, dear Ink, for your kind words. I, too, am slowing down today embracing the moments. Sometimes I move and do way too fast and do too much. :-) I appreciate your thoughtful comments and am grateful you see behind and within my words. Have a peaceful Sunday, Sara
