An Imminent Demise

As the day we dreaded finally started to unfold, I was making calls so those who needed to be told Had the information they would need for when…and where, And why it was a hospice now…and not intensive care. For those who needed several hours to make it to the room, I tried to make it very clear they really shouldn’t assume That she’d survive until they got there. She was near the end, And there was now no “life support” on which she could depend. But absolutely certain she could hear the things I’d say, I’d told her several times that all her kids were on their way. And now that she’s so very weak, and can not take a call, I’ve told her…time and time again…we love her, one and all. For those of you who make it here in time to see her die… To join me in the vigil, as her death is drawing nigh… I could use your company…and she’ll be glad you came… But if you’re not in time - she knows you love her…just the same.
