Adjust Your Eyes
The poems
Like stars, appear the more you stare
When you let your eyes adjust
Don't try too hard
Lower your expectations
Don't get distracted by bats or planes
I feel unpoetic
Breathing in the Sahara dust
Watching people wash the plants clean
Whilst watering them
As I stay dusty
Coated in a phenomenon, weather wise
"What if" I think
Then turn away from the thought
Shake it from my brain
Confessional closed
I worry I don't know myself
Would I like myself if I did?
I drank Coca-Cola in a glass bottle before
With a straw
It made me happy
How simple
Til my teeth fall out
And I get fat
I want to do batch cooking
But the fridge and freezer are always full
So I feel my batch cooking life won't start
Maybe I'd be different
If my food was cooked in batches
I might never know
I've eaten 6 Tunnocks Tea Cakes today
4 in the car on the way to work
1 when I got home (melted from car)
1 when it had reformed
This didn't make me all that happy
I'll try and remember that
Is there the recipe for anything within
These mixed thoughts?
I've looked at it and see nothing
But maybe it's seeds
Something will grow
If I just plant it
