Seven ten contest

The empty buildings explored Pockets of time and people They have moved on and won't ever return But the door is open, I look inside It is so easy to observe a life Cassette tapes, clothes strewn about Furniture still in situ Evidence of a life left hastily Nothing here was important after all They could walk away from a messy life These homes take time to be cleared No one notices may be Rent unpaid, unresponsive and missing Lucky I never found a dead body Children probably should not have played there But we played where we wanted We went unnoticed as well As long as we went home at the right time An abandoned life was interesting Especially when it looked full of things I did not have many things In time I did walk away

thought provoking piece Dilly - the age of innocence I guess.. you wouldnt want to let kids do this nowadays! hugs jan xx

Haha I'm not sure I did it with permission Jan - I can't imagine the 80s was a safe time to do this but luckily I got away it x

Inquisitive and curious they are. Children, that is. No fear, no boundaries. Times were much different when I was a child. It is interesting what people leave behind. I clean rentals for a while, and dorm rooms, when people left...enlightening it was.

Thanks Linda - it's hard to believe me and a friend would access abandoned houses and look around aged about 10 - eek! There just seemed to be a spate of them at the time and very fascinating regarding the idea of leaving everything behind. Thank you for your kind words x
