A poet feels

A poet feels in metaphors and images. A poet pours their inner world into the air and innocently leaves it there, untethered. A poet stores their love in dactyls, bares their flaws in anapaests, fights inner wars in verse, and all a mind can bear a poet feels. A poet never once ignores the seam of bliss that underscores the world. They paint its lines with flair, excited that their words can share such joy - for all the eye adores a poet feels. 1 August 2019 For Charles Messina’s Rondeau Contest Note: English accent! Metaphors / pours / stores / flaws / wars / ignores / underscores / adores all end in the same “ors” sound.

Just beautiful, Nina. Such graceful meter and continuation of the thought into your refrain. Gorgeous word choices. Fave.

this is just excellent work, NIna. It's so well metered and exactly how a great rondeau should be! i think it may be one of your first. If that is so, a big congrats on how well it turned out.

I feel a free verse style has nicely been shifted to the format of Rondeau, a difficult job that you have executed perfectly ... Powerful composition with rich content ... Nice refrain in ' a poet feels' ... Enjoyed reading ... Congratulations, Nina ...

Ah thank you Probir! It was really fun to try to create that free flow feel within such a strict form.

This is a wonderful poem Nina. Unfortunately in your line "Untethered a poet stores" there are only 7 syllables and it should have been 8. Loved the poem! Thanks for entering my contest. Hugs Charlie

Ah yes Charlie, fair enough - knew I was risking death by syllable count with that one, but I liked the way it created a little pause in the poem! Thanks for setting a rondeau contest - I needed an excuse to have another go at this lovely form x

This is flawless, Nina. I feel my seam of bliss itch) I'd wish you gold in the contest, but I've already wished it to someone else. That's why I wish you the starry diamonds and the eternal glory. Faved it.

In a world that encourages feelings to be hidden, poetry refreshes the soul.
