When Conscience Is Ignored

He said those words, “I love you.”
In your heart you know he really means,
“I love myself, and I’m going to use you.”
                                       I tried to tell you,
not to hurt you, but to help you.
           Refusing to listen, you stopped
your ears and gave me a hard shove.
 Now you’ve become a statistic
as tears flow from
your eyes - another teenage girl,
               unprepared for
                      motherhood.

Whoa! Potent penning here, Carol. And couldn't agree with you more: This is so often how teenage pregnancies 'happen.' Kudos. ~ Gershon

Thank you, Gershon! Things just do not turn out well when we violate our God given Conscience.

I keep saying "follow your heart, follow your heart." I believe you are correct. The heart knows....

Thanks for your visit and comments, Karen. Our heart can be a tricky thing. In this case, the girl should have followed what she knew in her heart. Just for example though, if someone feels in their heart an attraction to a married person, which they know in their mind is wrong, but they go and commit the adultery, then they have done wrong in following their heart. Hope this makes sense.

If things sound too be good to be true, they usually are and someone is left to pick up the pieces. A good warning in your words Carol.

Thank you, Line. Unfortunately, it’s a scenario that happens all too often.
