Walls and Bridges
Stone upon stone, a rising barrier,
a line drawn in dust, a whispered exclusion,
a fortress of fear, a monument to division.
Walls of language, walls of belief,
walls of history, walls of the heart,
each a silent sentinel, guarding its own lonely keep.
But hands reach out, across the chasm,
timber and steel, a span of hope,
a bridge arching, a promise of connection.
Words become pathways, stories become shared journeys,
laughter echoes, a symphony of understanding,
a bridge built with empathy, stone by fragile stone.
The map unfolds, a tapestry of possibility,
where borders blur, where differences dissolve,
where the other becomes a reflection of ourselves.
Is it a naive dream, a fragile illusion,
to believe that bridges can outlast walls,
that connection can conquer isolation?
Or is it a stubborn hope, a defiant act of faith,
a recognition that our shared humanity,
is stronger than any barrier we can build?
Do we choose the solitude of our self-made prisons?
Or do we dare to cross the divide,
and discover the world waiting on the other side?
