Van Gogh Self Portraits

Inspired by the multiple self portraits of Vincent Van Gogh. There are constants As I see into my own soul I paint my image over and over Perhaps take a piece Of myself And lay it on canvas My green eyes and red hair Set me apart But of talent, maybe not I practise to perfect this art I practise and I improve Whilst deteriorating Each piece preserved As I decay Alone with the oils Lost in a moment As I paint But then alone And just lost Myself torn apart Piece by piece Sacrifice self for art

I like the double action. Self deteriorates while art improves. Ironic contrast.
