To be a tomboy Was not a girl’s ploy; It was a second choice - Where I could find a voice And be in a fitting place Without a doll face. Never was I fond Of playing the dingy blond; I sort of stopped pretending So I could stop defending; And I became athletic Not seeming so pathetic. Yes, I became a jock Until the aging clock Came to reckon me, Or did it rescue me? I am still the misfit gal - And not some femme fatale And, no, I am not gay. (Doesn’t matter anyway). I just try to learn and live; Find laughter and love to give. Not apt these days to worry, Or spin in a reckless hurry. Life is but a journey A path before the gurney, Befitting for a Tomboy. 10-23-2020

More power to you, Tomboy!... Now the girls take it for granted that they get to compete in athletics at a high level... Back then, it was considered 'unladylike.' Although the Prom Queen at my high school used to beat all the boys in the 100 yard dash in 7th grade... Happy Weekend, Georgette,

Funny old world Georgette, when I was a young lad I can still vividly recall being seriously impressed by this girl I was dating at the time, she was slightly built but could change the spare wheel on a car as well as any of the lads, and knew more about setting up a carburettor than most of us too, which earned her a lot of kudos among us gawky teenagers. It's good to be comfortable in your own skin. A good write. Regards - Bill
