The Bloody Tree of Brainless Evolution
or
The Extinction of the Problem of Personal Identity
"More than 99% of all species that ever lived on Earth, amounting to over five
billion species, are estimated to have died out."
--Our World in Data, Extinction
"And dying out generally ain't pretty."
--the Poet as Realist
"At the quantum level, all that comprises the universe is reduced to empty
space and two kinds of particles--namely, energy and matter 'bits.' Each bit,
moreover, is constantly in motion, ultimately explaining every species'
evolution and ultimate extinction."
--the Poet as Physicist
"An individual's personal identity--or that which 'feels like you inside'--is not
fixed, but rather is continuously changing, ever dependent upon time, place,
circumstance, and a countless number of additional factors. To speak
metaphorically, the 'you' at 12:00 noon is a near ancestor of the 'you' at
12:01 p.m., while the 'you' of today is a distant ancestor of the 'you' at the
age of two."
--the Poet as Philosopher
Yet drawn it is to Nature wet!
As in its jeans it squirts a flood!
Desiring yet fleurs violettes!
Yet drawn it is to Nature wet!
Though Nature never dupes it yet--
With Evolution's bloody tree!
Yet drawn it is to Nature wet!
As in its genes it squirts a flood!
Dedicated with Appreciation for Dutch white clover and for the compliment
